By mixing glass to carbon, Hardy has achieved an easy loading, smooth action, with controlled, well-dampened recovery. The easy loading nature of these rods makes them sensational. They allow short range, controlled presentation with the absolute minimum of fly line beyond the tip ring. For the light, stream angler working in the tightest situation, Hardy glass is the perfect choice. Made from 10% carbon and 90% glass fibre. Easy loading, durable blank for toughness. Hardy Zane 9ft  #9 4-pc
The key to the Zane rods are the blanks, amongst the slimmest ever produced, capable of cutting through coastal winds like a knife. A careful blend of multi-modulus fibers allows easy loading but very fast recovery – the perfect combination for quick accurate casting over any range. On the butt section are two Fuji-lines SIC rings, one of 20mm and one of 16mm. These are designed to allow super-rapid line clearance and to funnel the line for that last powerful shoot. The reel seat is hard-anodized aluminum, picked out in blue, to mirror the color of the blanks and to match the trim of the Zane reels. The double locking screws clamp the reel to the rod – but the fitted nylon washers mean it won’t be stuck there at the end of the day! Zane rods are designed for saltwater fishing but are also ideal for other species like salmon, sea-trout, steelhead and even pike. The fine points of the Zane package include carved aluminum stoppers, a glass reinforced carbon tube in translucent blue, and elegantly etched rod details. The Zane is supplied in a protective neoprene carrying system. Low profile blanks cut the wind with ease to deliver sharp accurate loops with minimum effort. Heavy duty components for saltwater reliability. Aqua blue blanks with low in-hand weight and exceptional balance. Large diameter butt rings for maximum line shoot. Low diameter blanks for wind penetration. Anodized aluminum reel fitting with double up-lock nuts and nylon grip rings for improved hold. Carbon tube with neoprene carrying system. Hardy code HRZS03.

Big Wells Fishing reservoir in Redbrook Wales U.K.
After visiting Gary Evans flyfishingshop in Cardiff for information I heard that the salmon season was closed, so I went to Redbrook to fish on a reservoir for trout. They had a lodge there with a very friendly owner, his wifte was taking care of the coffee and food. The fishing was 10 pounds a day catch & release. After I had a look on the way of fishing there by the locals I deceided to fish with an orange weighted salmon egg and I caught about 10 rainbow trouts in a few hours. Then I changed to a redhead damsel streamer and caught 7 more rainbows. At the end of a good day fishing a had 17 respectable rainbow trouts, a good cup of coffee and a nice chad with the locals before I went back to my hotel.
Bonaire (Caribean)
This was one thing I wanteted to do for a long time, catching bonefish. Bonaire gives the oppertunity for nice flyfishing and it's a nice island to stay with the family. You need a pickup truck for transport, because the best fishing spots are on different sides of the island. I fished at Sorobon Lac Bay a few times, close to the fishing boats where I caught most bonefish, but I also saw some very big barracuda's swimming there. Lagoen is a place on the eastside where I caught some small bonefishes, but this lake is very famous for big predators in the night time. Best place for me where the saltwater lakes in the south where you can catch big bonefishes, snappers and all kind of predator fish.
River Enz Pforzheim Germany
I bought a fishing license at Big Fish Fishingshop in Pforzheim for two sunday flyfishing on the river Enz. The first Sunday I went fishing the river was very fast and dirty, so I caught nothing. The second sunday the river was more clear and the water level was a bit lower then the week before. First a caught a few whitefish and after that I caught a rainbow trout and a brown trout. Before I went to Germany I made some small heavy Montana nymph's in black & yellow and with these nymph's I caught most fish.
River Platissbach Hellenthal Germany
This is a river I visit more often, because it's a very nice place to fish with a small #2 fly rod and small nymph's. It is a beautiful surrounding with a lot of tourist and slippery stones in the river, but the river makes you forget about that once you start fishing. Most fish I caught in the town centre with small nymph's in the morning and afternoon and dry flies at the end of the afternoon. You can buy a day license at the bakery shop on the market place, which opens at seven o'clock in the morning.

Flyfishing Experiences 2010

River Lenne Saalhofen Sauerland Germany
Nice day fishing in Germany. Three hours driving and about 250 Km's. This river has trout and grayling in all sizes. We started fishing at 09:30 in very clear water. About 12:30 the water got very dirty until 14:30 and then cleared up, so we stayed fishing until 18:00. I used a 7X tippet, but it turned out that this is to small for the Lenne. You need at least a 5X tippet. The fishing area is beautiful and people are very friendly. I fished this river with a Hardy #3 rod and a gold ribbed hear's ear gold bead head nymph that gave the best result, but it's better to bring some extra flies with you because of the trees and bushes alongside the river and on the bottom of the river.

River Mohne Mohnesee Sauerland Germany.
Starting the day at Flyfishing Europe to get the day license for the Mohne. With a VNV membershipcard the costs are €25 instead of the normal €35. Daily they sell 10 licenses for the Mohne and the river part is 10KM, so that's ok. We did several parts of the river that day, but about three o'clock in the afternoon we found out that we were fishing in the ASV-part of the river, a part where it's not allowed to fish with a FFE day license and that was the part were we caught most of the fish. I caught 5 trouts and 1 barbel, so it was a good day fishing after all. The size of the trouts was between 20 en 40 cm.

Flyfishing experiences 2009:
Flyfishing Equipment
I have a preference for Hardy flyfishing rods & reels, splitcane flyrods and I like the Richard Wheatley fly boxes, the real englisch style.
Fly tying favourites

Shuttlecock Buzzers
English fly originally. Another Buzzer pattern, this one is definitely for fishing on the top, to rising fish. Tied specifically to float high, with a dubbed body (to which you can add just a little floatant under the thorax, but Do not add floatant to the CDC feathers) and the forward sloping CDC. It is these that really hold the buzzer right on top of the water and at a slight angle. Shuttlecocks can be used on reservoirs & still water.

Snatcher Wet Flies
England is the country of origin. The Snatcher is really a very versatile fly that works particularly well when the trout are patrolling the upper layers of the water. Although it was originally developed as an imitation of the large buzzer pupae on Scottish Lochs it works its magic on most still water. where there are Trout.
When fish are feeding just sub-surface, but not taking dries, two snatchers fished just under on a light leader can often be really successful.
Fish the snatcher the way you fish the buzzer. A slow figure of eight with the occasional pull can give you a great days sport. Snatchers can be used on reservoirs & still water, and if necessary weighted with a gold bead head.

Bumble wet fly
Ireland is the country of origin. It is suggested that the Bumbles origins date back to Derbyshire in the 1500's when the fly was attached to a horsehair line. The fly when first alighting on the water was fished as a dapping fly, which slowly sank and fished as a wet hackle fly. It has survived in flyboxes for more than 500 years because it works. Time the presentation of your fly to match of the rises of the fish. Bumble wet flies can be used on reservoirs & still water. Hook 8-10.

Spider Wet Flies.
Scotland is the country of origin. The Black Spider created by W C Stewart 150 years ago is the classic spider. Hook 14-18. To be used on rivers & streams and still water. Modern spider wet flies are being made with fancy colored beads.

Humphy Dry Flies.
Jack Dennis & Charlie Ridenhauer devised this variant 30 years ago and its proved to be an excellent fast water pattern on both sides of the Atlantic. Great buoyancy and visibility. Hook 10-16. Country of origin is Wyoming / USA. To be used on rivers & streams.
